2022-2023
Throughout the first year of Mateo Lopez and The Momoiablos seizing control of Los Vagos, the gang was focused on raising their profile and restoring their street-level respect in the south side of Los Santos in an attempt to recruit new soldiers to protect The Barrio.
The Vagos engaged in numerous acts of criminality throughout the city, especially petty theft and robbery to raise precious funds. They soon came on to the radar of the Los Santos Police Department and City Hall, becoming a repeated source of antagonism for Commissioner Sid Hunter, Mayor Oleander Addams and Mayor Tobias Bamsford.
As news of the Vagos' return spread, they were able to make narcotics and weapons deals with The Lost MC, attracting the distant attention of the Salvala Cartel by extension.
In late 2022, the Vagos suffered a major blow as Esteban Carvonenza was secretely executed by Commissioner Hunter in an unnamed alleyway following Carvonenza's role in the attempted assassination of Mayor Addams. Soon after, Maria De Sanchez abandoned the gang to flee back to Mexico. In early 2023, the Forum Drive Families took advantage of the downfall of the Grove Street Ballas to return to prominance in Strawberry. Able to out-recruit the poverty-stricken Vagos, the Families soon became the dominant players in South Los Santos and a perpetual conflict with the Vagos ensued - further draining resources.
The gang was further shaken by the lengthy imprisonment of Lopez. With the Vagos thrown further in to disarray by the summer of 2023, the gang's oldest adversaries re-emerged in Northern Rancho - the Aztecas.
With Jesús Ortega and Felix Luna now handling day-to-day operations, the Vagos went through a lengthy recovery period and faced repeated setbacks at the hands of the Families, the LSPD and even the Blaine County Sheriffs Office. In September 2023, the gang would recieve a lifeline when the Salvala Cartel launched a major attack on Los Santos Law Enforcement during the Romeo Rises coup. All of the city's street gangs and organised crime groups took advantage of this attack - and the destruction of the Mission Row and Davis Police Departments - to expand their territories and operations.
The Vagos were able to use this chaos to take their fight for suvival back to the Families and the Aztecas alike. However, their plans to restore operations with The Lost MC were shelved when the motorcycle club's highest ranking members were either imprisoned or killed in the course of their rivalry with the Angels of the Death MC.
In the final months of the year, street-level skirmishes between the three major gangs in Southern Los Santos continued - though hostilities were sometimes temporarily paused in order to push law enforcement officers out of their neighbourhoods. The gangs also successfully resisted two attempted revivals of the Grove Street Ballas - leaving their territory in constant dispute.
A noteworthy dispute with the Families began with the Vagos' theft of the Forum Drive outfit leader's shotgun. Held by Ortega for months, the return of Shotgun's Shotgun has been a point of ongoing negotiation between both gangs - leading to an unwritten agreement about their rules of engagement, reducing the role of firearms in their dispute to reduce the presence of law enforcement officers on their turf.
2024
In January 2024, with Lopez on the run and Ortega attending to business in Mexico, Felix Luna took de facto control of day-to-day operations.
Labelled "the smart one" of the original Momoiablos on account of allegedly "reading the Dictionary" once, despite little evidence to back up these claims, Luna insisted that the Vagos took greater care in holding what they have and making smarter moves against their rivals. Giving the gang's soldados greater freedom to seek and agree arms deals with other factions, Luna has placed a big emphasis on ensuring The Barrio is protected at all costs.
As part of this, he has asked the gang's members to expand aggressively in to the Cypress Flats - ensuring that illegal operations and high-risk meetings can take place away from their homestead and family members.
During the course of seeking a new hardware supplier, the gang was betrayed by Eddie Jones and ambushed by Sheriff Kapow of the Blaine County Sheriffs Office. However, although Jones escaped with thousands of dollars, the Vagos were able to turn the tables on Kapow - stealing his hat and revered revolvor. The BCSO hunted the Vagos, rounding up multiple members, demanding the return of the revolver handed over by Joaquin Hernandez to Luna and placed in their private stash at the Barrio.
To protect the gang from further harm, as Mendez and Reyes distracted pursuit cruisers, Luna snuck back in to the Barrio with Navarro drawing the attention of the invading Sheriff & LSPD bearcat. Luna retrieved the revolver and left it on the ground at a waterside location to be found by Sheriff Kapow. The other members were released but Luna was issued a warning that the BCSO would come for him. In response, Luna demanded that the gang report any sightings of the BCSO on their turf - and bring Eddie Jones, and the stolen cash, to him.
Due to increased sightings of LEOs in Rancho, and instances of them talking with Aztecas members, Luna became convinced that their rivals were passing information to law enforcement. He repeatedly and publically called out the Aztecas as "ratas azules" (blue rats). This escalated hostilities between the two gangs which initially saw the Aztecas take the upper hand due to their numbers and firepower.
In February 2024, the balance was tipped when The Lost MC were unexpectedly released from a lengthy prison stay. This allowed the Vagos to resume their narcotics trading, raising funds and making the contacts necessary to shore up their own supplies. Due to an error in judgement on the part of the Aztecas, a pair of notable gun dealers became unofficially aligned with the Vagos cause - allowing the gang to bolster their stash of rifles, SMGs and ammo, giving them a fair shot at resisting aggressive Aztecas expansion.
To further support their rising status, Luna arranged for several gang members to recieve employ at Pattersons Cab Company as taxi drivers. For him, the innocuous yellow (and regrettably, blue) taxi cabs provided the perfect cover for the gang to move their product around the city and reach potential customers without drawing the attention of law enforcement or rival gangs. Combined with additional delivery work at Little Italy, the gang now had access to an endless fleet of delivery vehicles to make modest legal salaries and bountiful illegal cash.
The Vagos were given a further boost when the Forum Drive Families agreed to postpone hostilities in favour of focusing on the Aztecas threat. In return, Luna agreed to return their leader's shotgun once the North Rancho gang was dealt with. A three-way skirmish at the intersection of Jamestown Street and Macdonald Street proved to be a notable moment. Whilst both Luna and Mendez were severely wounded - surviving only thanks to the nouce of Enrique Navarro - along with members of both the Families and Aztecas, the event alerted the latter to the arrangement made between the green and yellow gangs.
By the second week of March 2024, the new generation of Aztecas had disbanded. Futher still, a major police operation had seen the leaders of the Forum Drive Families incarcerated. Despite a mix of good fortune and happenstance, Luna declared victory over the two major rivals of the Vagos and promised to continue their newfound rise - with the whole of Jamestown Street, Rancho and the Cypress Flats now firmly under their control.

Los Vagos is a street-level gang operated by Felix Luna.

The Vagos are a Mexican street gang operating out of the Rancho Projects known colloquially just as "the Barrio."

The largest Hispanic street gang in Los Santos, the Vagos are in regular conflict with the Aztecas due to their close proximity of their turf in Northern Rancho. The Vagos are also currently in open conflict with the Forum Drive Families.

Since March 2024, the Vagos have been led by El Jefe Felix Luna following the disappearance of Mateo Lopez, and the day-to-day operations are handled by a group of core family members known as The Jefes - or The Momoiablos. The last of these is Jesus Ortega, supported by the gang's soldados.

Membership

Despite the deep family ties within the current set of Vagos, the gang is always open to recruit new "soldiers" from the projects and within Rancho.

The gang may accept members from further afield, but the Jefes are naturally wary of those outside of Vagos turf intending to join the ranks. All new members of the gang will be expected to prove themselves in some manner - outsiders more than most.

Territory

The Vagos control almost the entire neighbourhood of Rancho but their territory ends in Northern Rancho where it meets the Aztecas turf. In 2024 under Felix Luna's orders, they sought to expand to the Cypress Flats, replacing the East-Side Vagos and laying the groundwork for future operations to take place away from The Barrio.

The Rancho Projects is the current home base of the Vagos. A mural to a fallen Jefe, Esteban Carvonenza, presides on the side of their headquarters in The Barrio.

History

Jefe de Jefes

On March 26 2024, Felix Luna took the title of El Jefe uncontested in light of losing all contact with Mateo Lopez. His first act was to seek a new Capitan to whom the gang's soldados would report.
