Description
Failed cockney talent agent, former owner of DickBall bowling alley, and current Dickfeed journalist. An anxious mess of a man that finds himself in the wrong place at the wrong time all too often.
Background
Dick flocked to Vinewood in search of a new start in the entertainment industry following his poor reputation of ruining actors' careers, after casting Jamie Kennedy in Son of the Mask and Halle Berry in Catwoman.
A lonely Dick Richards found himself gravitating towards an unlikely crowd - The Johnnys. While gaining temporary employment as a trucker, he met local influencer Johnny California and his stern manager Johnny Five. Richards and California planned on working together in attempts to kickstart his new career in Vinewood, but The Johnny's ties to mayhem and crime led Dick towards a road of petty theft and law-breaking, as Johnny Five began to rope him into his schemes - often as a fake hostage.
When Patterson's Cab Co came into town, Dick struck up a friendship with the business owner Oliver Patterson and his motley crew of terrible cab drivers. This led Dick even further into a life of crime, joining the likes of JayJay Jamieson in-store robberies. Combined with prison time spent with Johnny Five after a booze-fuelled night of mayhem following his temporary break up with Johanna Tennessee, Dick's new reputation had completely ruined his chances of living a life of success within the film industry.
Around this time, Dick tried and failed to join The Lost MC, got forgotten about in the first Los Santos' Got Talent but won the second, learned how to be American from Johnny Five in order to keep his US citizenship, and even had a run-in with The Cartel who gave him a gun and the challenge to cause "chaos", resulting in saving Marley Davidson who was held at gunpoint, but at the cost of fumbling the weapon and being shot in the spine by a member of the Ballas outside UWU Cat Café.
Following a short-lived friendship with Jay Walker, Dick decided to become a journalist to rival him and thus Dickfeed was born, an underutilised news source that often prioritises stories that benefits Dick and his current situation. Following a week of trying to compete, their rivalry mostly came to an end when Jay Walker announced he would be moving back to England, although his new job at City Hall prevented this and the two now feel mutually neutral about each other.
In a money making scheme with Mealard Stiers, Jillian Carter and the late Frankie Walters, the team posed as a film crew and began grave robbing under the guise of filming a show for National Geographic. When the Los Santos Police Department showed up, the name CAC Productions was improvised and thus a new film making team was born. Their debut film 'The Gravedigger' was born out of this escapade. The graves were still robbed of real treasures and not the props that the LSPD were led to believe were being used. Frankie Walters passed away not long after, but CAC Productions still lives...
The DickBall Saga
With the opening of FiveBall, Dick found his new calling, working for his friends Five and Tennessee and striving towards making an honest living in Los Santos. However, that all changed one weekend when Johanna Tennessee left town for a few nights leaving Five in charge of the bowling alley. Gathered at Yellow Jack Inn, The Lost MC hosted a party featuring fist fighting. Dick took advantage of Johnny's drunken state and bet the ownership of FiveBall on the fight. After winning both the initial fight and the rematch, Dick took the keys from a depressed Johnny Five and took over the bowling alley. This attracted two big changes in his life, the introduction of his new, bowling-obsessed friend Mealard Stiers, and a $150,000 bill from The Cartel.
With no was to pay this monthly bill, Dick began to panic and spiralled into a dark period of constantly running from forces greater than him. With then-Mayor Oleander Addams clearing his criminal record, he acquired a gun license to protect himself, but The Cartel had many gangs under their wings including The Lost MC and Los Vagos, who helped The Cartel torment Dick. This involved forcing him to drive vehicles armed with explosives and park them outside the LSPD's Mission Row.
During the pressure of this debt, Dick's old friend Johnny California was murdered outside of DickBall. He worked tirelessly, including hunting down CCTV footage from James Kapow, and staging a sting operation in Pizza This with his late-friend Larry Walters, to identify the killer. Mid-way through his investigation, The Cartel and The Lost MC kidnapped Dick and questioned him about his debt, and put further pressure on for payment by forcing him to walk closer to the edge of the parking lot roof they had taken him to. In a desperate attempt to escape, he punched the leader of The Cartel but fell during this attempt, leaving him wheelchair bound. After having the wheelchair customised at Viv's Body Shop, it blew up in DickBall causing damage to the building.
The following week, a fundraiser was held with citizens donating under the impression of the funds being used to fix up the bowling alley, but instead being used to pay off The Cartel. Dick tried to raise more money by auctioning off the chance to push him down a hill in his wheelchair, but when Jay Walker mistakenly won the bid, the fundraiser took to the very top of Mount Chiliad. However, before leaving DickBall for the mountain, Frank Delaney admitted to Dick that he was the one that killed Johnny California weeks prior, and threatened him to not tell anyone or he would kill his loved ones, leaving Dick devastated. Everyone recognised the danger of Mount Chiliad's height, but before the chair pushing could be relocated to a more suitable location, Frank Delaney released the brakes on Dick's wheelchair and he rolled off the side of the cliff. Luckily, he landed on a cliff edge not too far down. In attempts to save Dick, Mel Rose fell off the cliff and landed next to him. The two passed out and were later saved by the skin harvesting Alfred Leske and his jetpack, barely surviving the fall. Dick fell into a coma for several days.
After his recovery from the fall, Dick was asked to meet with The Cartel to exchange the money he had made from the fundraiser, to clear his debt. This then turned out to be Johnny Five and Johanna Tennessee in disguise, stealing every penny he had and taking back the keys to the bowling alley in the process. Leaving Dick to bleed out in the old Apex Autos warehouse, he woke up at Pillbox Hill hospital with little recollection of what had happened apart from remembering that he had met The Cartel and they took him to their warehouse. Unfortunately for Dick, he had assumed he had paid the real Cartel, and had no memory of the fake-out by Five and Ten.
Later the same day Dick reluctantly planned to meet with The Cartel on the top of the Diamond Casino roof to exchange the money he no longer had, as they insisted he had still not paid off his debt. In a panic, Dick ignored their orders to come alone, disguising himself as Detective Jack Powers, bringing along Powers who disguised himself as Dick to try and catch The Cartel, along with Mealard Stiers and Jillian Carter after bumping into them at Pillbox Hill. However, The Cartel also went against their word and sent The Lost MC on their behalf. Powers and Mealard ambushed The Lost as they held Dick up at gun point. Following their arrest and a threatening phone call with the Cartel leader, Dick went into hiding until it was revealed that the Cartel leader had been killed, leaving his debt in the hands of his successor. Luckily for Dick, the leader's successor was his sister who cared more about finding out who killed the former leader, rather than Dick's petty debts.
Thus concludes the saga of DickBall, with the bowling alley falling back into the hands of Five and Ten, and The Lost MC keeping Dick in their sights for payback following word of the LSPD finding out that Frank Delaney killed Johnny California.
