Early Life

Kyle was born on a Tepid summers evening on his family farm in the Clyde Valleys to parents Jim and Susanne Driftwood. The Driftwood family were always hard working and had Kyle learning how to work the farms from a young age along with his little brother Keith. They started with the basics like Weeding, planting fruit and vegetables and general maintenance of vegetation before moving on to mechanical maintenance at the age of only 10 (Tractor repairs, Ride on mower repairs etc) then eventually helping with livestock a few years later. Eventually, Kyle grew tired of life on the farm because it was all he knew other than school and yearned for more. He dreamed of a life in the big city and as someone who was always caring, his dream growing up was to become a medic.

Paris and Les Serpentine

On a school trip to Paris at the age of 16 Kyle met a kid of a similar age called Jacque who he immediately hit it off with and became good friends. Jacque was very different from anyone else he had met in his life as he had a bit of a darker side to him. Jacque told Kyle that he was going to be a member of a gang called Les Serpentine. Kyle didn't really know what it would entail but he was eager to find out more. He flew home a few days after finding out about Les Serpentine and he was consistently thinking about what his life could be like living over there.

Eventually he had enough of farm life and even though it killed him inside a little to leave Keith on the farm himself he got the first available flight out to Paris and met with Jacque. When they walked out to the front there was several burly men all standing outside with flashy, green cars, They joined them in the cars and left.

When they eventually stopped driving they arrived at a big warehouse in the middle of nowhere. As they approached the doors Kyle noticed the handles were custom shaped Snake handles. when the building was entered there was hundreds of people in here. Some were building guns, some were cutting coke, some were cutting down weed plants, all illicit activities which worried Kyle, but he was here now, they were taken to a room above the warehouse where they were introduced to Jerome, the Leader of Les Serpentine. He was a big guy, He made even the most hulking grunt in the building look like a twig but he was always smiling, upbeat and welcoming. He took a liking to Kyle because he loved the Scottish and felt the accent was funny so he always kept him around and showed him a very lavish lifestyle. Kyle when drunk one night admitted to Jerome that he had always dreamed of helping people and wanted to be a medic to which Jerome loved the idea.

The following day Jerome had demanded that some of the warehouse be cleared out so they could set up a makeshift medic wing with medical equipment and the books that would be needed to learn how to use it all. Kyle spent months studying until there was a big turf war with a rival gang and he had to put the studying to the test. People were coming in with bullet wounds, burns, fractions, everything you could imagine going wrong, had went wrong. Kyle had been thrown in the deep end but with the support of Jacque and Jerome they were able to save many lives that day.

Eventually Kyle became more inflicted about what he was doing he was always asking himself "Are we the bad guys?" he decided he wanted to leave. Because he was Jerome's favourite he was sad to see him leave but he understood that this was not in his nature to be "one of the bad guys", so he let him leave on the basis that if he came back, he goes all in. They shook hands and Jerome bought him a one way ticket to Los Santos the same night.

Arriving in Los Santos

Bright faced and bushy tailed Kyle got off his flight and was handed a set of Keys to an apartment in the Alta Street apartments and a new phone "A final gift from Jer" the gentleman said before he walked away.

Kyle made his way up to Alta by foot where he was met by Serenity Reynolds who was pulling stuff out of a van and putting it in another one. They chatted for a while and she eventually gave him access to one of her pickups as he didn't have any transport of his own. He became very close with Serenity and even helped her out with her business The Collectors whenever he could as it was tons of nostalgia for him going up to the farms and doing what he hadn't done in quite some time.

Over his first few weeks he was thinking about what he really wanted to do when he arrived in Los Santos and on the daily he was passing by Pillbox Hospital and decided to stick his head in to introduce himself. This is when he met Jillian Carter who took him for an interview and brought him on board. Kyle was ecstatic and he wanted to put everything he had into the position and ensure that he was able to help whenever possible.

While working in the hospital he quickly made friends with Aurora Tilly and Alexis Sanchez who he seen as family and eventually the rest of the staff at pillbox. They fought through a huge battle with the Savala Cartel arm in arm with the LSPD which he felt made him cherish his life just that bit more. He took a minor step back at pillbox to focus more on Serenity at this point and to help her with her business which she eventually asked him to be a partner in to which he accepted and worked a ton on supporting her and the business in the best ways possible. The business was in a good place and eventually started bringing on new staff.

During the fall Serenity had the idea of throwing a private party at nocturnal to thank all the staff for their hard work which Kyle had helped plan and at this party is where Kyle proposed to Serenity and she said yes. The celebration was extremely short lived though as a few moments later there was a massive fire in Nocturnal that shut the club down for the foreseeable future.

Leaving unexpectedly

Not long after the party Kyle had received a call from his dad that his mum had fallen extremely ill to which he decided he couldn't just be in LS while she could be there on her deathbed, his dad was also getting older too so he decided to give his prized possession, his Mitsubishi Lancer to his closest friend Rory as he wasn't aware if he would be back or not and returned home (With Keith, Serenity and Serenity's cousin Willow) to help look after his mother and help run the farm.

When Kyle arrived home his dad was extremely angry because we had flown all this way without letting him know, Kyle frustrated, lashed out at his dad but they both immediately moved on from it as they understood they were both hurting. He spent a few days on the farm looking after the sheep and the cows as well as helping his mum wherever possible. During this time Kyle and Serenity were consistently arguing due to Willow consistently putting Kyle down and when he stood up for himself, Serenity would immediately shut him down. It got to the point Kyle couldn't handle it anymore and told them both to leave and never come back which they did immediately. This felt like a weight off Kyle's shoulders but at the same point he was in a very bad way as he had just left the first woman he ever told he loved.

Over the passing weeks Kyle's mum got better and better to the point she was demanding her usual making breakfast for the family and cleaning up when everyone was going into the fields. Kyle got a text from Jacque. "Come back, we miss you brother, things haven't been the same since you left and I think we need you here." The thought crossed his mind. "Do I go back? I left there for a reason" he spent days thinking on it, his mum was better, his dad had great staff working the farms, he wasn't needed here anymore. He packed his bag and left for Paris in the middle of the night just leaving a note saying "Sorry mum, I gotta split, Love you - Kx" in traditional Kyle fashion.

Return to Paris

Immediately off the plane Jacque was standing there with a concerned look over his face rather than the usual smile that Kyle had grown to know. "I didn't think you would actually com-" Immediately he was cut off, Jerome appeared from around the corner "Kyle! My friend! A promise...IS a promise. You stand on MY ground which means, YOU are mine. Welcome back." Kyle felt betrayed and immediately knew that Jacque had betrayed him, either this or he had planned to meet him alone but was followed by Jerome. Kyle was then forced back to the warehouse where he was forced to consistently work on people who had ran into violence, help people who were OD'ing from trying the product and forced to save these people against his will.

It turns out that Jacque had done more than join Les Serpentine at this time and had actually grown to become Jerome's Right hand man. He came back one day with blood all over him wheezing and collapsed into a box of guns. Kyle took this opportunity to save his own life and get out of Paris for good. "I will not save Jacque unless I can leave. You can beat me, you can torture me you can kill me, but this man will die without my help. If you want him to survive. You let me free. I will go back to Los Santos, I will live my life and I will never come back here." Kyle demanded, "If you leave here. You will NEVER return, if you return you will break a promise to me and it will cost you your life." Jerome barked to Kyle. He nodded and immediately got to work saving Jerome's life. Luckily enough Kyle had enough knowledge from his time at pillbox to know exactly how to handle this and saved Jacques life. He walked out of the warehouse and on to the next flight to Los Santos.

Returning Unexpectedly

Landing in Los Santos after all this felt like a surreal dream while still having the after effects of a nightmare still lingering in his head. He felt he was finally free. There was only three goals in Kyle's head at this point, to find his friends, to get his job back and to get his car back. To his sadness he found a lot of his friends were no longer around or not really the same people they were before he left.

Kyle made his way to Pillbox and was glad to find that Jillian was now the Chief and that Thomas Keisel was now an Advanced paramedic, who was just in the door as Kyle was making his way to the airport. As Kyle already had tons of experience at pillbox and already had all the certificates he was immediately re-hired and promoted to advanced paramedic which he was ecstatic about. He also got his car back from Rory after a prank where he was going to make him pay for a new car for him.

The next big thing on Kyles card was to make new friends because so many people he used to spend time with were no longer here, so he spent some time with some new people in the city, Kali Chanda and Michelle Smith, Kyle got very close with Kali and even started dating her but it didn't really work out due to them being two completely conflicting types of personalities this way, but they still remain friends to this day.

Austin, The return of Les Serpentine and the after effects

After being back in the city for a few weeks Kyle was advised about a message on Birdy from Les Serpentine demanding that he come back to Paris or Los Santos would burn. Everyone had told him to ignore it but he knew the manpower they had and if they chose to bring it over then it would put everyone he cared about in jeopardy so he agreed to go back on the promise that it would be temporary and that he would be returned to Los Santos safely. They agreed. A biker/mercenary names Austin Williams was hired and sent by Les Serpentine to make sure that Kyle didn't run and to make sure that he got on the plane which he took great pride in ensuring happened, he also took a bit of fun in annoying the pillbox staff by reminding them how long Kyle had to get his affairs in order.

Kyle went back to find out that Jerome had died and that Jacque was now in charge of Les Serpentine, half of the bodies that were in the gang were now drug addicts who couldn't function or dead. "Kyle! It's what we always wanted. We will control the Serpentine. We will pour our venom wherever we want and we will rule Paris. I brought you back here so we can do this together." Kyle disagreed heavily with this and knew that this would be the end of the gang. "Jacque, it's done. Les Serpentine is dead. This won't last". Jacque immediately struck Kyle with a lead pipe which knocked him to the ground. He chained him up and told him that he needs to stay and he will make him want to stay. Over the next few days Jacque took great pleasure in torturing Kyle to the point he was almost dead. He knew that he was never going to change Kyle's mind soh He took his kidney to sell on the black marked and punctured his lung so bad that when he was found at pillbox it had to be replaced with an artificial lung. "we're done, you're no brother of mine." were the last words that Jacque spoke to Kyle as they put him on a private plane back to Los Santos.

Since this day Kyle hasn't told anyone the whole truth about Paris and how he was almost running a criminal underground. He also has a consistent fear that one day Jacque might come to Los Santos looking to kill him and everyone he loves. He also has an underlying anxiety that sometimes causes him to panic when it comes to surgery, hence why he won't do surgery and chooses to support unless it's a complete necessity.
