Background

Keith Denton, known as Smokey on the streets, is a stoner who moved to Los Santos because he heard they have the best weed. Smokey got his nickname from an incident one day late into his senior year of High School when his dad, a cop in his small hometown, once found weed in his room and sent Keith to sit in jail for a night for it. When he was being taken to jail his dad mockingly called him "Smokey" the whole ride there, giving him his nickname and also inspiring his hatred for cops, since his own father would do this to him over a plant. He shortly thereafter would leave his town once graduating, changing his name the Keith Denton legally, after Seth Rogen's character from Pineapple Express. He then went on to college where he finished his degree in Chemistry with a minor in Botany, driven by the idea that if he's a stoner to people then he's going to be the best stoner he can be. He loves the color green because it is the same color as weed. He wants to one day have a whole field of weed he engineers and grows so he can smoke the perfect joint.

Forum Drive Families

Smokey was in the city for a few days before meeting Forum Drive Families he hung around them because, like him, they wore green. After hanging around and helping the Family in some petty crimes and helping fight in the ongoing war versus the Los Vagos he was officially made a member after helping the gang with jobs and even facilitated some deals. After the Families found out how to produce MDMA, Shotgun placed Smokey in charge of production and distribution of the drugs.

War with Los Aztecas

One evening Smokey went to check out a tip about tags going up on the Forum Drive turf of the Hardware store in the South Side he arrived to see "Aztecas on Top" painted on the wall and while taking a picture was rolled up on by the Aztecas while alone. After some words were exchanged Smokey and Cedro Herrara fought in the parking lot and after getting beat down was told to deliver a message by Headlocke that they were looking to expand into Forum's turf and was shot and left for medics to retrieve. The war over the hardware store continued for many months with scraps happening in the hardware store lot and across the southside, until one day Smokey caught Cedro shooting in Forum's turf. After chasing him down and the two having a brawl with one another Smokey shot Cedro in the head, killing him, and in the aftermath the remaining Aztecas decided the hardware store wasn't worth it and that the beef would die with Cedro.
